Born in 1928. Studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, in Paris, and in New York as recipient of a Rockefeller Scholarship in 1965. Received the Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship in 1969. Retrospectives of his work were held in Mumbai and Delhi in 1980. He has participated in the International Triennales in India and in the Biennales at Sao Paolo,Tokyo and Venice. Founded the Vision Exchange Workshop for artists and filmmakers. Has held exhibitions of his photographs, and has made short films.
