Born in 1947. Holds a Diploma in Painting from Gujarat. Trained in fresco and mural techniques in Banasthali, Rajasthan.Started his career with the Weavers’ Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles. Recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Award as Designer from the Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi in 1990; the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in 1980 and 1986; the National Award of the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1976, the Maha Koshal Kala Parishad Award, Raipur, in 1971, and the AIFACS award in 1968. Has held several solo exhibitions of his work, and participated in a number of group shows in India and abroad.
