Recent works on paper by Shobha Ghare

Shobha Ghare, painter and print maker, was born in 1951. She received Master’s degrees in Fine Art and Applied Art at the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.

She is the recipient of several awards, including a gold medal at the Sir J. J. School of Art in 1972, a National Award by the Lalit Kala Akademi in 2001, a Silver Medal at the Drawing Biennale held in Chandigarh in 1994, and the Kalakaustabh Samman by Kalavart, Ujjain, in 2002.

She is also the recipient of the Amrita Shergill fellowship, and fellowships from the Government of India, the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and the Ministry of Culture.

Shobha has participated in several national and international exhibitions, including the National Exhibitions of the Lalit Kala Akademi, the International Print Biennale in Japan, the Festival of India in New York in 1986, and an exhibition on five contemporary Indian artists held in the USA in 1999.

Her work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, the Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi, Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, Art Heritage gallery, Delhi, and several public and private collections in India and overseas.

Shobha Ghare lives and works in Bhopal.
