Born in 1938. Studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. Recipient of several awards including the National Award in 1957, 1963, 1973 and 1984, and the Kala Ratna by AIFACS in 1987. Was Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at MS University, Baroda, from 1981 to 1985. His work is represented in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and several public and private collections.
