Born in 1934. Studied painting at MS University, Baroda, and printmaking at The Pratt Institute and Pratt Graphic Art Center, New York, under Fullbright and JDR III grants. Recipient of several awards, including two National Awards, and a Gold Medal at the International Print Biennale. Taught painting at MS University, Baroda, from 1959 to 1992. His works are in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; MOMA, New York; the Smithsonian Museum; the Dusseldorf Art Museum and the British Museum. Has written on art, printmaking, photography and folk art traditions for several publications.
