Born in 1973, Nitish Bhattacharjee completed his Bachelor’s (1996) and Master’s (1998) degrees in Painting from the Indore School of Art, Madhya Pradesh. He has held several solo and group exhibitions, including those held at Tao and Jehangir art galleries in Mumbai, besides shows in several other cities.

Nitish’s work comes in patches of bright colour in acrylic on large expanses of paper and canvas. His bold uninhibited brush strokes are suggestive of a burgeoning energy that seems to stem from the cathartic process of creation. His pictorial plane is often 'organized' by striking, flat, color panels that frame patches of exhilarating brush work rendered with abandon. And yet, somewhere amidst all the chaos, definite geometrical forms appear afloat the planes of colour.
